Winery Review:

Robert Mondavi Private Selection Pinot Noir Red Wine is medium-bodied with soft tannins and a lingering finish, making it an elegant pairing with roast meat, poultry, seafood and cheese.

Wine Folly:

Pinot Noir (p. 150) This Pinot Noir very light-bodied and dominated by raspberry and plum notes. Second and tertiary notes are earthy spices, allspice and clove. The Mondavi's finish lacks tannin. This bottle reflects Wine Folly's take on Central Coastal, CA Pinot Noirs, "sweet fruit and softer acidity."

Central Coast, CA - Pinot Noir (p. 294) California's Central Coast is defined by dense morning fog that rolls off the Pacific. The book accurately predicts this bottle's red fruit flavor and spice, however vanilla is almost absent from Mondavi's bottle.

My Review:

This Pinot serves it purpose, its light-bodied and full of red fruit without much tannin. The notes of spice are nice but, there is not much complexity here, and vanilla is no where to be seen. Its exactly what you would expect from a value Pinot Noir from California and that is okay.

I tasted this wine on its own.
